Per capita disposable income of rural residents in the Xizang autonomous region rose from 5,698 yuan ($849.67) in 2012 to 23,184 yuan in 2025, representing average annual growth of 11.4 percent over the 13-year period.

The average annual growth rate ranked first nationwide.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–25), Xizang allocated 25.46 billion yuan to agriculture and animal husbandry and 61.25 billion yuan in subsidies for rural vitalization.

Rising incomes have also been accompanied by changes in rural consumption. Since 2013, per capita spending on clothing among rural residents has increased by 756 yuan, while healthcare spending rose 713 percent and spending on education, culture, and entertainment increased 1,931 percent.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–30), Xizang plans to further implement measures to support steady income growth among farmers and herders.
