Founded in August 1956, the Lhokha City People's Hospital （西藏山南地区人民医院）is a comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, disease prevention, teaching, scientific research and first aid. The Lhokha Blood Station, emergency center and healthcare center are under the hospital's jurisdiction.

The hospital covers a total floor area of approximately 38, 186 square meters, of which 1,386 sq m are offices; 29,367 sq m are rooms for public services, 1,562 sq m for medical equipment and 5,871 sq m, ancillary rooms.

The hospital was rated as a 2A hospital in 1995. On April 22, 2015, it was approved as a comprehensive 3B general hospital. Honors won by the hospital include the "National Advanced Collective of National Unity", "National Baby-friendly Hospital", and the governing unit of China Hospital Management Association.
