Xizang's trade with BRI countries exceeds 5b yuan in 2025

As the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) continues to advance, Xizang autonomous region's trade network has expanded from neighboring countries to markets around the world. 

In 2025, the region conducted import and export business with 155 countries and regions. Among them, countries involved in the BRI have become the main engine driving Xizang's foreign trade growth.

Official data show that Xizang's trade with BRI countries reached 5.74 billion yuan ($831.66 million) in 2025, accounting for 67.77 percent of the region's total goods trade.

The vitality of market players has also continued to grow. In 2025, 186 enterprises in Xizang recorded import and export activity with BRI partners, up 7.5 percent year-on-year. Private enterprises played a dominant role, contributing 5.59 billion yuan — 97.3 percent of total trade with BRI countries.

Major imports include metal ores, copper products, and cultural goods, while exports feature garments, new energy vehicles, and cultural products.
