Bright red lanterns swayed above the main stage in downtown Frankfurt on Feb 22 as the second Happy Spring Festival Temple Fair brought a splash of China red to the German city, creating a festive atmosphere that captivated local residents.

A Tibetan cultural showcase from Nagchu city became one of the day's biggest highlights. Performers presented classic pieces, blending powerful vocals, graceful choreography, and elements of intangible cultural heritage like the Guozhuang dance.

Many spectators, including a 67‑year‑old Frankfurt resident, said it was their first time experiencing Tibetan dance live — and were visibly moved.

Around the venue, stalls featuring Chinese food, sugar painting, hanfu, and festive crafts invited visitors to participate and capture the moment.

Local officials also embraced the festivities. A Frankfurt city councillor wore a bright red scarf, calling it a symbol of Chinese culture. City leaders said the Spring Festival fair has become an important tradition reflecting strong China-Germany ties.

Huang Yiyang, Chinese consul general in Frankfurt, said that by holding events such as the Spring Festival temple fair, local people can better experience the richness and diversity of Chinese culture.

The celebrations also extended to nearby Hanau, hometown of the Brothers Grimm, where a Tibetan flash mob performance delighted residents on Feb 21. Local leaders noted that in today's global environment, such cultural exchanges are more valuable than ever.
