The Second Xizang International Communication Conference was held on June 16 in Lhasa, Xizang autonomous region, with over 300 international media representatives, scholars, and industry leaders in attendance.
The conference, themed "Understanding and Support, Empathy and Connection — Enhancing the Effectiveness of International Communication on Xizang-Related Topics", aimed to establish an open, inclusive, and diverse international exchange platform, enabling the world to better recognize and understand the authentic, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive Xizang under socialist modernization.
Li Yafang, deputy editor-in-chief of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, emphasized the importance of storytelling that bridges hearts and minds, allowing the international community to appreciate Xizang's progress and happiness.
Professor Manukonda Rabindranath from India's Jawaharlal Nehru University noted that his firsthand experiences in Xizang differed from Western narratives and advocated the use of new media technology to share Xizang's true story and rich culture.
The event appointed seven experts to the Xizang International Communication Think Tank and unveiled 10 outstanding communication cases. A collaborative framework agreement was also signed between the Publicity Department of the CPC Xizang Autonomous Regional Committee and nine institutions, including Peking University and Tsinghua University, to consolidate resources for effective international communication.
Afternoon forums addressed topics such as cross-cultural narratives, content creation, and the role of technology in communication, while a regional seminar explored targeted strategies.
Complementary events, including a photography exhibition and the 2026 China Brewers Cup-Lhasa Division, further promoted cultural exchange.
